Premium WiFi comes with a premium router

London's fastest home broadband comes with a Vantiva (Technicolor) WiFi 6 router jam-packed with great features to help you tailor your home WiFi network to your liking. They are supported by intelligent Mesh routers where we need to expand reach and achieve whole home coverage.

What do we mean by 5 Gbps broadband?

Let's hear from Peter Rampling, Chief Commercial Officer at Community Fibre, to explain that one:

"5 Gbps broadband means your internet speed is five gigabits per second, which is five times faster than 1 Gbps connections. In practical terms, this translates to super-fast downloads and uploads, seamless video streaming in ultra-high definition and the ability to connect multiple devices without any noticeable lag.

For example, you could download a full-length movie in seconds or have dozens of devices running smoothly in a busy household or home office. Essentially, 5 Gbps broadband is built for people who demand ultra-fast, high-capacity internet for everything from remote work to gaming and beyond."

How does our 5 Gbps broadband compare?

According to Ofcom, the average download and upload speeds in the UK are 69.4 Mbps and 18.4 Mbps respectively (UK Home Broadband Performance report, 2023).
The table below shows how our 5 Gbps broadband compares, as well as how it stacks up against our other offerings.

Our full fibre broadband speeds Time taken to download a file of 750 MB Times faster than the UK average download speed Times faster than the UK average upload speed
100 Mbps 60 seconds 1.4x 5x
300 Mbps 20 seconds 4x 16x
1 Gbps 6 seconds 13x 50x
5 Gbps 1 second 72x 272x

And if within 60 days you're not happy with your 5 Gbps broadband and we can't fix the issue, you can leave with no exit fees.

You'll receive a Vantiva (Technicolor) router, supported by additional intelligent Linksys Mesh routers (where needed) with your Premium WiFi package.

For 5 Gbps broadband customers, our specialist engineers will install and optimise your WiFi, tailoring the position of your router(s) to your home's specific needs. We supply additional Mesh routers (where needed) that interlink with one another for superior WiFi performance. Unlike some cheaper routers that tend to be more susceptible to interference, ours automatically select and transmit on two frequencies to maximise coverage and speed.

In some circumstances, our engineers may have to run Ethernet cables to more than one router. This is to ensure you get a stable WiFi connection in the hard-to-reach areas of your home.

No, there are no installation or set-up fees on our 5 Gbps broadband deals.

One of our engineers should be out to complete installation within a couple of days of you signing up. Once they arrive, it might take them a couple of hours to get everything connected.

Very! Our 100% full fibre network is up and running more than 99.9% of the time, with no peak-time slowdowns.

Yes! There are no usage charges on our 5 Gbps broadband, or any of our packages. So, you can game, stream and video call to your heart's content.

No, there is no line rental to pay on any of our broadband packages. That's because we run our 100% full fibre network straight to your door, without the need for a landline.

For new broadband customers our specialist engineers will optimise your Premium WiFi for you to give you total home WiFi coverage in up to 12 rooms, including as many as five bedrooms, across a maximum of three floors.

Our guarantee does not include any additional rooms, floors, nearby outbuildings, summer houses, garages and sheds. Howeveryou may achieve WiFi coverage in those areas.

Our advertised speed of 5 Gbps is for a single device plugged into your router via a wired connection, which is always faster than a wireless connection. Over WiFi, you'll benefit from speeds up to 950 Mbps.

And 50 Mbps is the minimum speed that we include as a baseline for pay-out with the Premium WiFi guarantee. We expect that your service will be much faster than this in most cases, especially for our 5 Gbps broadband packages. Usually, the closer you are to a router, the faster the WiFi will be.

To get full 5 Gbps speeds, you'll need a multi-gigabit-capable device connected via a Cat 6 Ethernet cable to the 10 Gbps Ethernet LAN port on your Technicolor router. You may need a multi-gigabit adapter for the Ethernet port on your device.

We recommend you use a WiFi 6 enabled device to make the most of wireless connectivity.

Please be aware that a wired Ethernet connection will always achieve faster speeds than a WiFi connection.

For new broadband customers, our specialist engineers will install your router(s) in the optimal position to give you the best possible coverage throughout your home. However, we cannot guarantee that you will continue to receive the same coverage if you move any of the routers.

Our engineers are happy to help tailor your installation to suit your WiFi coverage needs, so be sure to communicate this on your installation day.
