The storyline may not fly in 2022, but it is still just as heart-warming as you would expect it to be.

The love story we can all relate to, and if not, then this is a note for some self-therapy. After the honeymoon period has passed, the couple struggles to see love and joy in each other’s company and make a rash decision to break up following an offer to move in together. They struggle to fully separate seeing how intertwined their lives have become and try to get a grip on their current situation. A truly modern and relatable take on relationships in the 21st century. 


Valentine's Day movie review & film summary (2010) | Roger Ebert

Cast: Julia Roberts, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Alba, Ashton Kutcher, Kathy Bates and many others 

An all-star movie (which really makes you question what other films did during that time in search of talent), revolving around multiple couples and friends trying to make their relationships work. Some are ending and some are just beginning. The film truly gives a sense of how different love can be while answering the biggest question of all – what is love? 


Themes: Comedy, Mature, Romance 

Cast: Emma Thompson, Daryl McCormack, Isabella Laughland 

In this sex-positive, amusing and compassionate drama, Nancy Stokes, a retired teacher who believes she has done nothing interesting in her life, takes the risk and hires an escort, Leo Grande. The plot tells the tale of self-realization, freedom and liberation. Inviting the viewer on a living room conversation-like journey, they probably never had.

Cast: KiKi Layne, Stephan James, Colman Domingo 

In this powerful story of two people separated by wrongful conviction in a world full of prejudice and racism, the love continues to shine in the hearts of two young lovers, waiting to be reunited, testing their connection through social and political fires. A beautiful adaptation of James Baldwin’s novel. 

  1. Moonlight (2017) 

Themes: Romantic, LGBTQ 

Cast: Mahershala Ali, Naomie Harris, Janelle Monáe 

The story follows the life of a young man Chiron, struggling to find himself a place in a society as a black queer man. He seeks guidance in a fatherly figure drug dealer Juan, who teaches him to step on his own path. The breath-taking cinematography, a simple yet powerful plot message and rich symbolism will let you get intimately acquainted with all the characters and grow fond of every single one, learning their story. 


  1. Letters To Juliet (2010)  

Themes: Drama, Romance, Adventure 

Cast: Amanda Seyfried, Gael García Bernal, Vanessa Redgrave 

When Sophie travels to Verona, Italy, the home of Juliet Capulet, she joins a group of who write to heartbroken women coming from across the world to receive an answer from “Juliet”. She finds a letter dating back to 1957 and writes back, in return, it inspires its author to come seeking for the love of her life in Italy. The movie is filled with delicious food, a beautiful love story for all ages and a truly timeless message – love knows no time and age.

In 18th century France, meet Marianne, an artist gets hired by a countess to paint a wedding portrait of her daughter in secret because the bride to be does not wish to be painted. Meet Heloise, the lady on fire, who feels trapped in her daily routine and seeks warmth, finding it in the arms of her artist, who manages to see the real her. 

  1. Me Before You (2016)

A tear inducing story revolving around a small-town young woman, content with her life, who is hired as a caretaker for a young affluent Londoner paralyzed after a tragic accident. They grow fond of each other and develop real love and care for one another.  

  1. Love, Rosie (2014) 

Themes: Comedy, Drama, Romance 

Cast: Lily Collins, Sam Claflin, Suki Waterhouse 

The book adaptation that has made its readers and watchers cry multiple times, of course, made its way to our recommendation list. The oh-so fragile and loving characters’ lives’ depiction will not leave you cold-hearted this Valentine's Day. The storyline follows the lives of two best friends since their childhood and paves the way of the meaning of fate: destined souls will always find its way to each other; it’s written in the stars.
